Fall 2011 New Machines
We received a bunch (5-6?) of machines from computing services, and plan to set them up as dom0s to replace some older machines. Progress so far:
- praseodymium.club.cc.cmu.edu (128.237.157.88) - fully built, but not racked. Note: netreg thinks that .88 is pion and .216 is praseodymium, so we'll need to fix this.
- cerium.club.cc.cmu.edu (128.237.157.72) - installed, but possibly not fully clubified yet.
Stuff that went wrong:
- Weird /dev/sda issue on cerium - some sort of Dell management drive?
- newmachine-squeeze.sh fail on running what-xen if xend isn't started - either manually start xend or reboot before running it.
TODO:
- Install remaining machines
- Forward DNS for everything
- Rack them, move xen guests from old machines
- Fix newmachine-squeeze.sh to start xend or something
Some more unused element names:
francium (appropriate for a very explosive machine?
)
- beryllium
- radium
