- Mdille3: we actually have an agenda today...
    - Awesie: ehhh...
- Awesie
    - some FPS
- Saturday
    - lenny
        - booted the 2.6.24 kernel we've been running
        - would not boot the Xen DomU kernel that came with lenny
        - probably because the hypervisor in etch is _really_ old
        - there is an etch-bootstrap.txt file in Mkasick's home directory
        - Jwatzman: don't like the magic image
            - Mkasick: debootstrap doesn't populate /etc quite right
            - Mkasick: it's not really a particularly magic image; basic
Debian image (through qemu) with xen kernel modules installed
            - Mkasick: will play around with Xen lenny stuff over the next
couple days, evaluate xen-tools, try to eliminate some of our
              custom packages
            - idea, Mkasick does i386, then somebody else does amd64
            - Jwatzman: is Zephyr the only reason why things are painful for
              us?
                - yeah, pretty much
                - CMU Zephyr build seems heavily bolted onto krb4kth, so
                  also need heimdal, ...
                - keep old versions of shells for Zephyr?
                    - Kbare: concerned that they'll die at some point, and
we'll never figure out how to recreate them
                - rebuilding heimdal, krb4, isn't that hard; it's only
really Zephyr that's the painful part
        - What about our patches against ssh?
            - something about incompatible MIC between heimdal and kerberos
            - this hopefully won't be an issue any more, probably can just
              use upstream ssh
        - AFS?
            - was very special
            - currently running some funny, special AFS
            - at this point, I think the only issue we had was the unaligned
              trap issue
            - we were probably the only people (including Aij, who's in the
room) that ever ran AFS file servers on alpha
            - PAG issues?
                - eventually there came to be PAM support for heimdal and
                  AFS
                - issue with all logins (including those for root and other
                  system users) going into PAGs
                - probably need changes to libpam-heimdal, but that's a
                  pretty small thing
            - Awesie: want newer AFS
        - Mkasick: did write instructions for myself the last time I did
this, so should be able to do it again
        - Amd64: does our build machine still work?
            - processor + motherboard was probably about $38
            - Kbare: worked the last time I built packages
    - Alphas
        - zeroed three, two went to the loading dock
- Operations
    - Java
        - installed it on shells (not quite as terribly unreasonable now,
since the machines are faster now)
        - Mreiss: because of 15-111, stack overflow
        - Java doesn't support tail-call elimination
        - worst case quicksort, O(N^2)
- Event
    - number of people
    - Awesie: thought it was good
    - went until past 12:00am
    - mostly Battle Field Desert Combat
    - hopefully more variety next time
    - sold 1 T-shirt, for $16 (and also got pizza)
    - complaint: can't eat and play games at same time
    - advertising didn't work so well
        - we have an event checklist
        - most of our posters got taken down
            - one of them was even taken down from the door, while we were
              in the cluster
            - angry mumble; "I'm giving this to Kimberly."
    - confused people walking by the cluster, surprised by the LAN party
      being in the Mac cluster
    - seemed like people enjoyed it
    - Windows retro game thing?
        - apparently the CellServDB entry for our cell (on Windows cluster
machines) hadn't been updated in approximately 4 years
        - Red Alert
        - Total Annihilation
        - Windows compatability problems?
            - administrator issues?
        - sploits?
    - financial mumble
        - Mdille3 needs money
        - had $67 pizza bill, veggie pizza was expensive ($22?)
            - two topping instead, mushrooms + green peppers
- Retro committee
    - Mdille3: have achieved [60hz] nirvana
        - won't buy any more retro things again
            - yeah right
        - 2nd Reality was ported to C64
            - tried it, didn't work on our C64
            - suspected needed modified ROM (i.e., JiffyDOS)
            - or maybe needed a European PAL C64
        - something about first C64s being destroyed in Japan
        - new seller, crazy test harness
            - took a long time to come, was starting to get worried
            - then showed up
        - we can do C64 2nd Reality
- Finance committee
    - De0u: I think the Federal Reserve is a bad idea
        - bought something last night, 300ft stereo headphone jack that was
          yellow...
        - no, seriously, bought the stuff
        - in the future, for Monoprice, PID is all you need
        - will be happy about getting SCSI cables
        - long audio cable is likely Michael's fault...
            - De0u: that is ridiculously long
        - De0u: management things have frightening errata issues
- Mkasick
    - sort of relevant
    - VirtualBox supports amd64 now
        - in sid, but libc upgrade pain
    - De0u: 64-bit machines are good at using more memory
        - pointers are twice as big
- Kbare:
    - what does this do:
        movl array(%ebx), %eax
    - how about
        movq array(%rip), %rax
    - they're completely different
- Mdille3:
    - none of you did my embedded arm work
    - Awesie/Mkasick: you were complaining about it, didn't seem like
      something we'd want to do
    - had to deal with patches, they change the Linux driver API every
      couple minor kernel versions
    - kernels didn't like to boot
    - now can concentrate all energies on 50hz
