• We are now in WEH 8427 for GBMs because of some Academic Development sessions.

• Due by November 1st, SLICE will send out an email with a link on 4 October
• fseidel will do this when it comes out

• We will be applying for a p-card for compo machine parts purchasing
• jocelynh and fseidel will go on Friday to walk-in hours at 1pm

• No new updates on this; tparenti has revived the email thread
• ezh: Got an email from Tiffany Priester (SLICE) asking if we'd been charged anything yet — Nope
• tparenti: Last checking was 8 Sep; will continue poking FMS fortnightly until he hears something, can liaise if necessary

• Two new people showed up last week; mdille taught them about contrib

Talk Series: Green Hills was here last week, we talked to them briefly about the talk series. Some ideas they brought up as follows.

• Virtualization: Practice and theory, more on the side of practice
• Reconfigurable logic: fseidel would be happy to do this
• Debugging/Debuggers: The 7-9 steps of debugging. They also mentioned their own tool (multi) but no one here has used it and it's very expensive.
• LLVM: fseidel knows some people who might be willing to give a talk
• Cryptocurrency: Maybe get Prof. Christin?

• Security Vulnerabilities: Such as Heartbleed and WannaCry

• Esoteric Programming Languages
• Modern File Systems: zfs, Apple's new file system, etc.
• Rust/D/Go ("Next-Generation Systems Programming Languages")
• REST API
• Reverse-Engineering/Hacking/IDA: Maybe do a collaboration with PPP
