Demosplash Planning Meetings
- Will be starting next week, directly after GBMs (18:00).
Budget
- Our rep says it's a "significant amount of money" and needs to discuss the budget
- It is in fact $400 less than we requested last year, so tjjohans and fseidel are meeting with her tomorrow (07 Feb) to find out why she thought it was abnormally high.
Budget for 2017-18 located here.
Retro Game Night:
- Late Night has swapped out their Video Game Night with VR night, at least according to the posters they've put out.
- However, they still have "Retro Game Night: Computer Club" on their website. fseidel is going to reach out to get that removed.
- Requesting CUC Rangos for Saturday, 03 March (19:00-22:00)
- Prof. Franchetti wants to hear when this happens; he's interested in our hardware.
Talk series
- Starts tomorrow with Virtualization in Theory (fseidel).
- fseidel will be sending an email out to members@ and the recruiting lists to announce these.
- jocelynh went to talk to Catherine; pizza has been ordered; same Rialto order as always. It's pre-tipped, so all we have to do is sign the receipt.
Talk schedule (and presenters) can be found here.
- Structure of series:
- Bi-weekly: allows for higher quality talks
- Will be on Wednesdays at 20:00
Air Conditioner
- AC work order is still open, "but they have replaced what needed to be replaced."
- 0xDEADBEEF
- Proposed date: Saturday afternoon (12:00-14:00), 28 April.
- tparenti has put in a reservation for one of the tables outside the UC.
- Need to figure out how to rent a grill.
- Member Retainment Ideas
- Proposed workshop series (actual name TBD) once a month or so focusing on maintaining VMs, geared toward the orgs that actually use our machines
- PGH Supercomputing Center tour (Prof. Franchetti offered to get us in touch)
