Green Hills has a talk and cookies next Tuesday, so keep an eye out for an email about that.
Text Editor Holy War
- Let's just ignore the room we got assigned (in Scaife) and use CYH B-level hallway.
- fseidel has ordered construction paper and crayons.
- fseidel and jocelynh have started postering, WEH and GHC covered (with some of PH).
- Food? Two boxes of Quiznos subs sound about right.
- Seems like we've been having decent member retainment.
Talk series
You Have Been Lied To by fseidel next week in WEH 5316
- Perhaps invite Green Hills, who will be on campus.
- Other Prospective Talks:
Prof. Eckhardt suggests a talk on the Intel Management Engine (The Bad Thing)
- Maybe he could give it! Or someone he knows and could recommend.
Power Computing at CMU
No more Data Ethics (Chris Makris and Prof. Nugent are both busy this semester). We'll keep it on the books for next semester.
- Prof. Nace "still owes us a talk," possibly on reconfigurable logic.
Given that last week's talk (Buzzword Soup) overlapped with multiple company tech talks, we should do an encore performance after a cooldown period.
"Spending and Budgets"
- We have $500 for Componium upgrades. Just put it all into RAM?
- fseidel will send something to the list
- It's enough money that we should do a PCard meeting rather than reimbursement.
Wean 9
- Clem Cole (a CMU alum) is going up to WEH 9 on Thursday morning (about 10:00, depends on when FMS can let people in).
- He's also giving a talk tomorrow, 03 Oct @ 17:00 in Rashid Auditorium.
- The tour time is a bit difficult for most members, plus it's on short notice, so we're trying to figure out if Dan Siewiorek would be willing to give a tour sometime later this semester.
Poster Violation??
- We (i.e. officers@) got a "warning" for covering a blank part of a Lunar Gala poster
- And also for not having contact information, though they still managed to contact us
- What contact information do they want? This isn't defined.
The freshman "Poster & Graffiti Policy Administrator" who "catches" "poster violations" is the one who would be paid if there are any fines. Hmmm.
- Should try to get a meeting to appeal the violation next week.
Moon Bash??
- Completely unrelated to the above point, of course.
- Maybe this is what we should call the demo screening.
- "A retro computing fashion showcase"
- Poster will most certainly be toner-friendly.
