Thorium is one of the retro machines. It's a very fast VAX, a 4000/600, with a lot of memory. It's running NetBSD 1.6.2. It runs a web server (thttpd)listening on port 8080 and is also known as thorium.vaxpower.org. The sshd also listens on ports 80 and 443 as a way for some people to ssh past simplistic firewalls. It occasionally sees logins from off-campus. In the past it has been used for gcc/vax development and testing. Thorium is a large floor-standing machine with wheels, and a separate disk box that usually sits on top of it. This is an old photo of thorium: http://www.vaxpower.org/~isildur/4600.jpeg
