Pizza note!
Make sure to say it's tax exempt, for CMU.
A (hopefully useful) rant from lroop
- Sometime around 2012/2013, Pizza Perfectta's quality dropped substantially.
- It appears that their ingredient quality started to suffer.
- We also started having trouble with receiving burned pizzas, undercooked pizzas, etc.
- This may be due to a change in management, or it may just be that they've started cutting corners on large orders going to CMU. Either way, club members had gotten very tired of Pizza Perfectta, especially after an experiment with meetings that resulted in us having ludicrous quantities of it twice a week.
- After much debate in meetings, IRC, and the mailing list, we decided to switch our 'default' pizza order to Rialto Pizza starting with the Spring 2017 talk series.
- Their prices are slightly cheaper, and their pizza has so far been generally more edible.
- Their specialty pizzas are interesting - Ranch Steak, Hawaiian, and Pierogi seem to be fairly popular (however Copetas doesn't like Hawaiian and refused to order it for a while, but she did eventually cave in).
A (useful) rant from mdille3
- XL is the most economical and except that one time is just fine
- assume 4 ppl/XL if you want to feed them well; 5/XL if "moderate food"; 6/XL if "got some food [snack]"
"specialty" ("veggie" or "meat") pizzas are crazy expensive; suggest "veggie" = "green pepper + mushroom" and "meat" = "sausage [& _]"
order method is either on your own card & reimburse or have Copetas call it in on hers
- if ordering yourself, make sure to say "for CMU, *tax exempt!*" and save the receipt! (easily lost in the moment) - also, scan it for the archive before submitting reimbursement
- do tip generously, they like us; Copetas pre-tips ~10% which is low imo but sufficient so no need to add if she did
- For ref, as of last year, it was ~$12/XL, $2.50/topping/XL -- so $250 will feed like 50+ people... back of the envelope math, your order should cost~$120 + inflation and feed ~30 people
Ask for plates & napkins, driver usually has if you forget, but don't forget twice (unless you're explicitly trying to use up our stock and have checked we have enough)
- Drinks! Historically, we had somebody stop by geagle and pick up some 2Ls, and for larger events quiznos would often donate some (that takes a week's notice, so not gonna happen here). Perfectta will sell you 2Ls, but with substantial markup. Check cup inventory!
Snacks! Wise for large events, 'cause some chips/pretzels/cookies fill people up cheaply & keep them happy till pizza arrives
For events requiring substantial setup/running effort and/or involve bitter old people (neither likely here), a large Hawaiian (& sometimes a Greek as well) are the choice for secret "crew" pizza (and if you haven't had the chance to develop an appreciation for Hawaiian pizza, I highly recommend it)
Hmm.. wiki material maybe?
