Interesting part
- Events
Movie Night — Tue 15 Dec, 21:00, Rashid — WarGames (1983)
- Should confirm the room again with Catherine
- Retro Game Night — early Spring, date TBD, Kirr Commons
- fseidel submitted application to Late Night
- Requested the new 21:00 start time, which should help us be done earlier
- Preferred dates are 29 Jan, 12 Feb
- fseidel submitted application to Late Night
- Demos at SCS Day — Fri 26 Feb, time TBD, GHC 4307 (mini-Rashid)
- Seems like one or two pieces of retro and a machine screening demo videos would be sufficient
- Sounds doable, but it's a matter of what they want
- Time of day on Friday may be a factor for alumni involved
- tparenti will open a more official dialogue with akohlbre on this; others can jump in as necessary
- Seems like one or two pieces of retro and a machine screening demo videos would be sufficient
- Open Hacking Hours
- No official meeting over Thanksgiving recess (28 Nov)
- Workshops for next week, Sat 5 Dec?
- lroop has retro repair to do anyway, tentatively plan on that
- Operations
- Junk/scrap hardware
- Emailed dk08 on Saturday to have it removed; it's still there as of now
- storage-2/zinc rebuild/migration (remnant of recent AFS security upgrades)
- Disks ready to be ordered
- Plan to rebuild entirely on latest Debian, migrate data from storage-2 and zinc
- We haven't had a 'storage-1' in a while; consider calling it that rather than incrementing to storage-3
This would leave transit-2 as the only remaining JetStor
- Third-party interference with scene.org mirrors
- An undergrad running Norton software informed ISO that requests to andrew domains were being intercepted, flagged as unsafe
- The reason was a (misflagged) file hosted on our scene.org mirrors, accessible via an aliased domain contrib-test-vip.andrew
- ISO contacted sbaugh, mdille, and tparenti directly
- These mirrors have a strange setup for historical reasons
- awesie stepped in to block requests to that file
mdille sent details, summarized in Meeting Agendas/2015-11-24
- Some of this may be somewhat out-of-date already
- Good that people knew enough to be helpful, but people who are no longer here should be careful when administrating stuff
- How are we working to restore access to the file?
- What implicit agreements do we have with respect to the integrity/accessibility of our mirrors
- We typically don't host such things on andrew domains for this very reason
Can we ask for CompServ to reconfigure contrib-test-vip.andrew, so as not to make our mirrors directly accessible via that domain?
- tparenti will work with mdille on opening that discussion
